We are commonly asked by those entering the field how to best get started. Certifications, trainings and just hacking around at code or other projects are always the common answer, but it sometimes misses the bigger opportunity, people! Forming relationships with established individuals or being inspired from hearing them speak about their research is a great way to jumpstart your career in cybersecurity.

On September 21-24, LABSCON will be held in Scottsdale, AZ. The line-up of speakers is impressive and is sure to be a great conference. If you can manage to align your schedule, it's worth a consideration. A bit further out in November is CYBERWARCON, based in Arlington, VA. In-person tickets have been sold-out, but the virtual event broadcasts the same quality talks. If you're in the area, considering showing up regardless of holding a ticket as many people will be hanging around the venue.
